Supporting clients to secure funding

By Andrew Jermy

At Germinate, over the last few years we have been increasingly focussed on helping our clients to strengthen their grant and fellowship applications to maximise their chances of securing funding to deliver their innovative science.

Between 2021 and 2024, we were fortunate to work with many amazing scientists who were collectively successful in securing more than €60M in funding, including multiple ERC Starting, Consolidator, Advanced and Synergy grants, and various other prestigious national and international funding schemes.

Our approach is to work closely with researchers to develop their proposals, from experimental design, through crafting a logical narrative, to finalising a polished and visually attractive application.

We believe that each application needs to be accessible enough that generalists can readily grasp the core ideas and fundamental importance of a proposal, while being detailed enough that subject-specialist reviewers can critically appraise the approach and feasibility.

Beyond writing, we also support clients through the process of preparing for an interview by helping to create highly polished and effective slide decks and providing coaching and strategic support for script writing, responding to questions, and navigating mock interviews.

Building on this record of supporting successful applications, demand for our services grew substantially in 2025 and we have worked with clients on more than forty grant or fellowship applications so far, two of which have already secured funding.

With our recent expansion, in 2026 the Germinate team (Andy, Claudio and now Gemma too) is set to help even more researchers ensure that their applications stand out from the pack and maximise their chances of secure funding to deliver their ambitious science.

Don’t just take our word for it, take a look at what some of our clients have been saying about working with us.

And if you or your colleagues might be interested in getting our help with a grant, or any other of the services that we provide, do get in touch.
